It’s still feeling wintery here in Portland. The snow came in a big way, like couldn't see my car big way. Then there was freezing rain with its own special effects. Then the rain came, and came, and came some more. It’s been a really wet season. According to the experts, record-setting; the wettest February since 1941 and we’re only 10 days in.
Life, in general, is feeling pretty stormy, politics and all. I’ve been focusing on spring. That has helped my mood immensely. I’m directing my attention specifically to nature, where there is order and sense to be made. I suspect that may be the best thing we can all do for ourselves, find a sweet spot that resonates with our hearts, and rises above all the outside noises.
I’ve just added a new "naturey" jewelry piece. It’s a small pendant with vintage black and white botanical illustrations on front and a single word of inspiration on back – or could be front. You can choose which design you want with which word you want. If there is a word you think I should add let me know. I always like hearing what my customers want.
I recently added a new Zodiac print. It’s a black and white design (I sense a theme here). A simple, contemporary constellation design is matched with distressed lettering and a decorative burst. The faux chalkboard background is dotted with tiny stars. I think it would look great next to my original word jam style with all of each zodiac sign's traits. There are some other things in the works. I’m brushing up on my illustration skills. Actually more like sweeping the cobwebs off. How fun though – pen and ink, watercolors, colored pencils, felt pens. I almost feel guilty. It’s like a play day in my head. I’ll post more on this as I get further along.
In the meantime, Happy February to all of you. Enjoy, stay warm, think spring!
